Rambling for more topic ideas.

So I need two more topic ideas. I'm terrible at this. I shouldn't be, seeing as a I have plenty of interests. I guess a lot of them wouldn't make good papers though. Especially long papers. 8-10 pages. Damn. I always feel like I'm just rambling by about the 6th page.
A friend of mine once did a 20 page paper. Holy crap. I have no idea what he talked about for 20 freaking pages. Maybe something dirty or something like that. Haha, I'm terrible.

So topics...

Hmm.

Another idea. Why is weed illegal?  Really, I don't understand why it is. I feel that if drinking and cigarettes are legal, why isn't weed? I would think that out of the three that drinking would actually be the most damaging and harmful. Hell, when you're drunk you don't know what you're doing. Look at all the ridiculous things people do when they're drunk. How many times a day do you hear about something stupid that involved drinking. Drunk driving has become an epidemic it seems. Do you ever hear of people doing such stupid things when they're high? How on earth is it LEGAL to get drunk, but not legal to get high? I mean, it's not like people never do stupid things when they're high, but come on, not like drunk people do.

I need one more...

I want to look more into the religion thing. I was just looking through my bible for a verse about homosexuality (Why do I have a bible with me anyhow? I suppose it came in handy today...but really.). I don't want to write about homosexuality, everyone wants to do that one way or the other it seems. Although it does interest me. More from the angle of how it makes me mad that people can't accept it.

Would you ever believe that I used to go to church every Sunday on my own and be a leader in my high school's bible club? I worked at a church camp too. Excellent time actually, minus how close-minded most of the people I worked with were. Th church's unaccepting ways always bothered me. Not that I think church is a bad thing, or christianity for that matter. I'm not anti-religion or anything. I just think a lot of it is hypocritical.
I'm rambling now...

So my topic.

How about book banning? Harry Potter specifically. That always made me mad that people honestly tried to ban those wonderful books.
I actually like that topic the most. Yeaaah.

Reasearch topics?

I suppose I'll start with the "things that piss me off" list:
-When people just have nothing nice to say. Really, if you have to be that negative, why bother? This came to mind because I was thinking of my two studios last semester and the two professors I had. One, who was wonderful, always had a positive comment to make, even if the project was complete crap. Then the other who, even if the project was amazing and he liked it, would say the most negative thing he could think of about it. It always made me mad. I just felt that it was unnecessry.
I swear I'm not just ranting about the man, although I could.
When people just say negative things all the time, I don't believe that you learn or are modivated to get better. Some feel that way, in art espically. I feel that when I'm told that everything I do is crap, I just want to give up, not keep going. Constructive criticism is cool, just being negative is not.

-Close-minded people. This seems kind of general. I mean, we all have something that we're a bit close-minded about. Sadly it seems that is very hard to avoid. However, some people just can't accept others who don't fit a certain mold. This makes me so frustrated I can't even describe it. It seems to me that generally the most common close-minded view is the negative view of homosexuals. It always makes me sad. Then there are people who refuse to accept a person who doesn't share their religious views. Do these people really think they are that right? That far above someone who doesn't share their views? Sometimes it's almost dicusting how unaccepting a person can be. Close-minded and judgemental people go hand-in-hand in my opinion.

Sure there's other stuff that gets to me, but those two are probably the biggest.

So reasearch papers...

I really don't mind writing papers for the most part. I've seemed to be fairly decent at it in the past. Last semester we wrote a bunch, and I had expected to be graded really hard and not do well. I ended up getting high B's on all of them. Could've been that she just liked my stuff. Who knows.
Research papers however...I just find there's too many specifics. I wish I could just write my ideas.

Three topics.
Why I want to do that topic.
Things I already know.
What part of it I'd like to research.
Thesis-ish.

1. Catholic influence on art. I know some information about this topic from Art History. When the catholics took over art changed all over Europe. Art could only be religious themed for the most part. Figures in paintings from the past were "made appropriate" and sometimes damaged in the process. This intrests me because I just feel like it was terrible and wrong. It always makes me mad when people can't view something in an artistic way and say that it's crude or discusting.
I need a good angle of this topic...

I need more ideas. I'll post another idea later I suppose.

I just found a hilarious picture making fun of Edward Cullen on Deviant Art. It pretty much made my day.

I wrote a research paper every year in high school. I hated it each year due to all the crazyness that surrounded them. A ton of notecards and bibliography cards that I always found to be unnecessary in the end. I didn't mind writing the actual paper itself, just all the ridiculousness before actually doing so.
I'm not sure what topic I want to do yet. I'm rather excited that we can pick anything. In high school I never got that much freedom with it. Although one topic that I would possibly like to do is the Salem Witch trials. Facinating topic. I feel like I should do something art related, but I've got no ideas. The salem Witch trials were an interesting and horrific event. Another story of religion going too far. Which I suppose brings up an interesting topic. Religion. Cults. Things like that that take over people's lives.
I would like to find out more about how the Catholics ruined art(in my opinion anyhow) during the Rennisance(Wow. I can't spell.).
I guess i can't say "ruined". Regulated and restricted would be more appropriate.

I think I can think of something better thoguh. I'll keep thinking.
